Louisiana recently faced its worst flood in contemporary history. This catastrophic event caused 40,000 homes to be inundated and necessitated the evacuation of 30,000 individuals. Tragically, 13 lives were lost. Amidst the chaos and destruction, however, there were valiant volunteers who risked their own safety to rescue both humans and animals that were trapped due to the severe weather conditions.

Mike Anderson and Darrell Watson, who are volunteers, have managed to save the lives of approximately 100 individuals and animals. Among their successful rescue attempts was when they found two pit bulls that were struggling to escape from a water trap. The dogs were trapped in the water for about 16 hours before the two volunteers saved them. These two rescuers are not the only people who deserve admiration, as there are many locals involved in the rescue operations.

On the 15th of August, Josh Petit took to Facebook and shared a picture, while describing the tragic flood that had hit Baton Rouge. He explained how the water had risen by 2.5 meters in just two hours, which was incredibly distressing. In addition, as he peered around, he noticed some movement near the bushes, but couldn’t ascertain what it was from afar.

As I gazed at the water, I could only see the dog’s eyes and nose barely peeping above it. It was an appalling sight; the poor animal seemed exhausted and helpless. Its fear for its life was palpable, and it broke my heart. However, we managed to rescue it, and as soon as it emerged from the water, it rested its head on my knees and let out a mournful cry, like that of a child. I was touched by the gratitude it showed me.

As soon as the post was published on Facebook, it spread like wildfire and within no time, the rightful owners of the dog – Sadie, were located.

Took Sadie back to her owner who had lost her during the evacuation process. Apparently, while he was busy packing his truck, Sadie got scared and ran away. But now, after being reunited with her owner, she is overjoyed and more than happy to be back home!

The multicolored tanager is a stunning bird that displays a wide variety of bright colors. It’s a treat for the eyes and ears, enchanting bird enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

The multicolored tanager, also known as Tangara dowii in the scientific community, is a stunning bird that belongs to the family Thraupidae. This group of neotropical songbirds is known for its diversity and unique characteristics. The multicolored tanager, in particular, is often referred to as the “jewel of the forest” due to its beauty and vibrant colors.

This species can primarily be found in the lush rainforests of Central and South America. Its natural habitat encompasses countries such as Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, and Ecuador, where it can thrive amidst the rich biodiversity of these regions.

The multicolored tanager is renowned for its stunning appearance, specifically its brilliant plumage that showcases a kaleidoscope of colors. Its feathers boast an intricate blend of striking blues, vibrant greens, fiery oranges, and radiant yellows, almost glowing in the light. Not only is this display awe-inspiring, but it also plays an essential role in the bird’s courtship and species identification. Nature has expertly designed these feathers to not just be visually spectacular but also crucial to the bird’s survival and reproduction.

The multicolored tanager is well-known for its beautiful melodies that resonate throughout the rainforest treetops. Its songs are a harmonious blend of trills, chirps, and whistles that create a magical atmosphere in the wilderness. These vocalizations serve various functions, such as marking territories, attracting potential partners, and interacting with other members of the tanager group.

When it comes to its habits, the multicolored tanager mainly dwells in trees, making it an arboreal bird. With its agile and acrobatic abilities, it can smoothly move through the thick vegetation while hunting for insects, fruits, berries, and nectar. As a crucial pollinator, its specialized beak assists in extracting the sweet nectar from flowers. Besides, it also nourishes itself by eating small invertebrates that provide the necessary protein for its good health.

The multicolored tanager is more than just a pretty bird with a beautiful song. It plays an important role as an indicator species, which means that its presence or absence can give valuable information about the health and diversity of its habitat. If there are changes in the population or distribution of the multicolored tanager, it could be a sign of ecological disturbances or shifts in the rainforest ecosystem. So, protecting this species through conservation efforts can have a positive impact on other organisms that live in the same ecosystem.

The multicolored tanager is a stunning example of the beauty and awe-inspiring features found in the bird kingdom. Its lively colors, enchanting melodies, and environmental importance make it a precious gem among the inhabitants of the tropical rainforest.
